Reviving a road association

The road association is dormant, the road is deteriorating, grants go unclaimed – and nobody knows where or who should start.

Many road associations were established at some point, but their activity has faded over the years. Meetings have not been held, contact details are out of date, there is no longer an executive or a management committee, road fees have not been collected and road maintenance has become unclear.

A road association that has suspended its activity does not disappear, however. Its obligations remain even when activity stops.

Reviving a road association means restarting the operations of an existing association in a controlled, lawful and transparent way.

A functioning road association is a prerequisite for clear road upkeep, for applying for grants and for equal treatment of shareholders. That is why it pays to bring the association back into working order before the problems grow too large.

Why revive the road association?

Without organised road care and invoicing, maintenance easily goes undone. When the road association works, road fees, maintenance and the road's future are better under control.

The Private Roads Act requires the road association to make decisions, hold meetings and manage its finances. Road grants from the Economic Development Centre and the municipality also require that the association's administration, decisions and records are in order.
