How a bridge project progresses

  1. Phase 1

    The bridge inventory provides accurate information on the characteristics of the bridge site and the measures that need to be taken.

    It provides the preliminary input for starting the design work for a new or repaired bridge and guides the designer's work.

  4. GPS survey

    GPS survey

    In the GPS survey, a digital model of the bridge and the bridge site is created with new-generation GPS tools using precise coordinate and elevation points.

    The measurement data from the model serves as the basis for designing a possible new bridge.

  5. Phase 2

    Design phase

    The design phase includes the bridge design work as well as preparing the documents required for grant applications.

    Applying for the grant funding itself from the city (or municipality) and the Economic Development Centre is also part of this phase.

  7. Grants and applications

    Grants and applications

    Road associations can apply for state aid for bridge projects.

    We compile the plan documents required for an aid-eligible grant application for the road association and submit the grant application on your behalf. We can also look into the city's (or municipality's) possibilities to support your project and enquire about possible funding already for the design phase.

  8. Phase 3

    Preparation phase

    The preparation phase of a bridge project includes the meeting service, securing financing and organising the tendering of the actual bridge construction contract.

  9. Project meeting

    Before starting the project, it is time for the road association to convene a project meeting.

    We help you with meeting procedures, producing proper, professional documents for handling the project at the road association's meeting.

    We can also act as chair or secretary of the project meeting.

  10. Tendering

    Tendering

    We carry out the tendering of the bridge project based on the prepared plans.

    Tendering includes a proper request for tenders suited to the site and the actual competitive tendering of the contract in accordance with the Economic Development Centre's guidance and procurement legislation. We also help the road association draw up the procurement decision and the actual construction contract.

  11. Securing financing

    Securing financing

    Carrying out a bridge project often requires a self-financing share from the road association.

    External financing makes it possible to implement the project as a whole safely and economically. We are happy to help the road association secure financing.

    We offer expertise and experience in using different financing solutions for the road association.

  12. Phase 4

    Construction phase

    In the construction phase the design work turns into concrete action.

    This phase includes supervision of the construction of the bridge project.

  13. Supervision

    Supervision

    We carry out the supervision of the bridge project as the supervisor appointed by the road association, in accordance with Traficom's guidance on state aid for private roads. The key tasks are supervising the progress of the project, the quality of the work and compliance with the construction contract.

    We also arrange the necessary site meetings and official inspections and take care of documenting and reporting on the contract.

  14. Finished bridge

    Final inspection

    After the final inspection, the new bridge is handed over to the road association!
